A New Kind of Santa Fe Duck

Photos for The North Florida Herald May 14, 2009
A whole new kind of duck- the kind made of rubber- visited the Santa Fe River on the High Springs border Saturday, May 9 when the Rotary Club held a rubber duck race as a fundraiser.
Each duck was numbered, and residents were able to sponsor a duck for a fee. The ducks were dumped into the river from the U.S. 441 bridge, and the finish line was Boat Ramp Road.
Taking first place and $500 was Scott Towne of High Springs; second place and $100 went to W. Strickland of Gainesville; third place and $50 went to High Springs' Lucy Regensdorf, who donated the money back.
